Regeneration: Tissue Engineering, Maintenance, and the Time of Performance

Author
This essay, published in TDR/The Drama Review, asks how artists and critics articulate the politics of bioart as the Science Gallery of Dublin’s Trinity College celebrates 10 years of art-science collaboration at SymbioticA. Recasting the Tissue Culture and Art Project’s Pig Wings Project (2002) within a genealogy of feminist maintenance art highlights bioart’s capacity to engage meaningfully with gender, race, and class in biotechnology.

The Wendy House

Co-Author
Published in Women’s Studies Quarterly and co-written with scholar and artist Heather Warren-Crow, this script is a textual fragment of The Wendy House, a performance installation staged in 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona. The piece was an attempt to stage the shameful but necessary question, Why is the language of empire still sensuously enchanting, even though its power is held together by duct tape and its magic is revealed to be nothing, really, but glitter and shadows?
